These hairclips are great to make for gifts. Little girls love them, so do the big ones! These would look amazing on bridesmaids, or just for yourself. While they're not too hard to make, if you're not up for the task I also sell these in my online shop.

What you'll need

  • 60cm x 6cm Black Tulle
  • 40cm x 11cm Strip Satin
  • 25 x 8cm Purple Satin
  • 25cm x 7cm Black Chiffon
  • Large White Button
  • Small Alligator Clip (this one is 37mm)
  • Sewing machine / needle and thread
  • Glue Gun

Prepare each strip of fabric to the sizes above. You can use any fabric you like, and vary the sizes to get a different result.

Fold the strip of fabric in half so the short ends are laid over one another, with the fabric inside out. Sew along the short edge to join it.

With the fabric the right way out, fold in half long ways, then run a loose stitch along where the long sides join. Pull the stitching tight to gather (it will look sort of like a scrunchy)

Repeat this with all strips of fabric, except the tulle is not folded longways - just gathered along an edge.

Join all layers together either with stitching or glue. Attach a button to the top, and an alligator clip to the bottom and you're done!
